Police investigate crash in Salt Lake City’s Ballpark neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a crash that injured one woman Friday evening.
According to a post on X, the crash happened in the Ballpark neighborhood.
The department received several calls about a crash near 1300 South State Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an injured 19-year-old woman.
According to SLCPD Officer Yaier Javaid, the crash involved a truck and a motorcycle. The truck had been making a left turn on State Street, headed onto 1300 South.
Police are not sure what caused the truck’s driver hit the brakes. Later, the motorcyclist hit the truck.
According to SLCPD, the woman’s injuries were critical and possibly life-threatening, and she was taken to the hospital.
“Due to the severity of the injuries, the crash will require an extended investigation,” SLCPD said.
Javaid said the truck’s driver is cooperating with police. There is no evidence that the incident involved driving under the influence.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
