Driver dies after losing control of vehicle attempting speed record on Bonneville Salt Flats

TOOELE COUNTY — A driver died Sunday after attempting to break a speed record and losing control.
A press release from the Southern California Timing Association said the incident happened on the Bonneville Salt Flats International Raceway during Speed Week.
SCTA said Chris Raschke, 60, was attempting a speed record and lost control of his vehicle at 2 1/2 miles.
Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on Raschke, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
