SALT LAKE CITY — A police officer was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly drinking before driving a city-owned vehicle to the Springville City Police Department.
According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper responded to the Springville police department for an agency assist around 7:42 p.m.
“As I arrived on the scene, I spoke with a sergeant who reported the odor of alcohol coming from one of his officers,” the statement said.
According to the affidavit, 37-year-old Larry Ryan Teuscher was sitting in the chief’s office.
“I observed that (Teuscher) had red, glossy eyes while speaking with the individual,” the statement said. “Also, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was present coming from his mouth.”
Teuscher told the trooper he had driven to work by himself after drinking two White Claws around 4 p.m, the affidavit said. The statement goes on to say, Teuscher willingly took a field sobriety test and a breath test, which came back positive for alcohol content.
Teuscher was arrested for “driving under the influence – first offense in 10 years.”
