OREM — The Utah Department of Public Safety released new surveillance footage Thursday night as the manhunt intensifies for the suspect accused of killing Charlie Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

DPS Commissioner Beau Mason narrated the newly released video, offering a detailed breakdown of the suspect’s movements.

“If you look to the top left, you’ll see the building where the shooter was last seen,” Mason said. “The suspect ran behind the upper building, emerged on the right side and moved to the far right corner,” Mason said during a press conference. “He then climbed off the edge and dropped to the ground.”

Investigators said the suspect left behind palm impressions, smudges and a shoe imprint believed to be from Converse tennis shoes. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and shoes with white soles. Still images from the video show a distinctive t-shirt featuring an American flag and eagle, a baseball cap with a triangle logo, sunglasses and a backpack.

“These are all identifying features we’re asking the public to look out for,” Mason said. “Tips from the public have been critical in advancing this investigation.”

The video also shows the suspect crossing a grassy area and street before disappearing into a wooded area, where authorities later recovered the firearm believed to be used in the shooting.

Gove. Spencer Cox also addressed the public, emphasizing the importance of community involvement.

“We cannot do our job without the public’s help,” Cox said. “We’ve received more than 7,000 leads and tips. The FBI hasn’t seen this volume of digital media tips since the Boston Marathon bombing.”

Cox praised the collaboration among 20 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, noting nearly 200 interviews have been conducted. The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

“We are hopeful that this video and the new photos will generate even more tips,” Cox added. “We’re asking anyone with videos or photos to submit them to our digital media tip line at fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting or call 1-800-CALL-FBI.”

Cox also warned against “disinformation” circulating online, citing foreign adversaries attempting to incite violence through social media.

“There is a tremendous amount of disinformation,” Cox said. “We’re seeing bots from Russia and China trying to stir unrest. I encourage everyone to turn off those streams and spend time with their families.”

The governor concluded by reaffirming the state’s commitment to justice.

“We are going to catch this person,” Cox said. “We’re preparing affidavits to pursue the death penalty in this case. To those grieving, thank you for your prayers. We feel them. The Kirk family feels them. We begin healing by finding this perpetrator and holding him accountable.”
