Groundbreaking date announced for Ephraim Utah Temple

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced Tuesday the groundbreaking date for the temple to be built in Ephraim, Utah.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held Aug. 27, 2022. Elder Walter F. Gonzalez, of the Quorum of the Seventy, will preside at the event.
President Russell M. Nelson announced plans for a temple in Ephraim in May 2021. It will be built on 9.16-acres of land. It will be located at the intersection of 200 North 400 East in Ephraim.
According to a church press release, it will be a three-story structure and will be roughly 39,000 square feet.
Groundbreaking date for another temple
Also on Tuesday, the First Presidency announced the groundbreaking date for the Lubumbashi Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple.
The groundbreaking date is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2022. Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, Africa Central Area President, will preside at the event.
This temple will be built on 2.57-acres of land and will be 19,300 square feet.
This temple was first announced by President Nelson in April 2020. And it will be the second temple in the country. The first temple to be built in the Republic of the Congo is in Kinshasa.
According to a church press release, nearly 90,000 church members in more than 250 congregations in the country.
