Guided snowshoe walks returning to Cedar Breaks National Monument

CEDAR CITY — The National Park Service announced Friday the return of guided snowshoe walks to Cedar Breaks National Monument.
The guided walks will start up next weekend on Saturday, Jan. 21, and will continue through March. According to a news release, two walks will be available each Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, there will be an afternoon walk on Fridays.
Equipment will be provided for those wishing to participate. However, reservations are required.
While the roads to the park are closed during the winter, the NPS says there are still a variety of ways to enjoy the park. During the winter months, visitors can access the park by the use of snowshoes, cross-country skiing and snowmobiles.
The NPS says the guided snowshoe walks provide an introduction to the winter-time activity.

The walks are 90 minutes in length, according to the news release. It includes a one-mile walk with a formal ranger program roughly halfway through the walk.
Reservations can be scheduled by calling 435-986-7120, or by email at cedarbreaksinfo@nps.gov. Reservation requests will be confirmed by the Friday before the scheduled walk. Those interested in participating are encouraged to make a reservation as soon as possible, as spots are limited.
The guided snowshoe walks may be canceled due to weather.
Visitors to the park during the winter months may access the park at any time on their own. The NPS says snowmobiles are only permitted on the marked, groomed path through the park.
