SALT LAKE CITY — Hazmat crews were called to the scene of a crash Sunday afternoon due to a semi truck’s ruptured fuel tank, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Watch Commander Joshua Moody with SLCPD said the crash happened at California Ave S. 3200 W.

Around 5 p.m., officers responded to the call of a multiple-vehicle crash involving two cars and a semi-truck, according to Moody.

The SLCPD said two of the drivers received minor injuries, but nothing life-threatening.

Moody said hazmat crews from Salt Lake City Fire Department were called to help contain a ruptured fuel tank on the semi truck.

Moody also said the crash is under investigation, with the possibility that the two cars were racing.
