KANE COUNTY, Utah — A head-on collision on US-89 in Kane County killed one person Thursday afternoon.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck, just before 12:30 p.m., crossed the center line into southbound lane of travel. It struck a Toyota Land Cruiser head on.

In the aftermath of the collision, the Land Cruiser was sent over a southbound guardrail. The vehicle came to a stop on a downhill embankment, landing on all four tires.

The Ford F-150 came to a stop facing the west. It blocked nearly two lanes of the highway, which limited traffic to one lane during the investigation and clean up.

The driver of the Ford F-150 died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger in the pickup as well as the two passengers in the Land Cruiser were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased person was not released.
