House fire in Murray leaves pets in critical condition

MURRAY — Murray fire officials battled a house fire near 110 West and 5965 South on Thursday afternoon.

The fire started in a bedroom according to Murray City Fire Chief Joseph Mittelman. Officials said everyone in the home was evacuated with no injuries.

However a cat died in the fire, Mittelman said. On Thursday afternoon another cat and a dog were still in critical condition.

The homeowners were seen using a garden house on the fire until crews took over. Neighbors were able to help firefighters keep access to the house clear for crews.

After crews arrived the fire was quickly suppressed.
