House fire in Kearns kills dog, leaves home uninhabitable

SALT LAKE CITY — A house fire in Kearns killed a dog Tuesday morning, with the smoke and flames ultimately leaving the house uninhabitable.
Firefighters were called Tuesday morning after reports of a house fire in the area of 5100 S Pieper Blvd, Kearns.
According to Unified Fire Authority Public Information Officer Benjamin Porter, firefighters cleared the house and determined no human victims were inside, though a dog had been killed in the blaze.
Porter reported the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Amyee Race with the Unified Police Department reported the UPD was there to assist in combatting the fire and not investigating anything suspicious.
