Human remains found near Elephant Arch

SALT LAKE CITY — Law enforcement agencies have confirmed that human remains were discovered by a hiker on Sunday. The human remains were found near the Elephant Arch hiking area.
After the remains were found, officers from Washington City police and deputies from the sheriff’s department processed the remains. They were reportedly in “various states of decomposition, indicating they had been there for an extended period of time.”

The department disclosed that the remains were of a man. And they noted that foul play is not suspected at this time.
According to the release, the man’s family requested that his name not be publicized by the department.
