Driver dies after SUV crashes into tree on I-215

SALT LAKE CITY — One person is dead and another was injured after a car crash on Interstate 215 that shut down two lanes on Wednesday in Salt Lake City.
Sgt. Mike Alexander with the Utah Highway Patrol said a female driver was traveling on I-215 West Northbound at 300 North when the crash occurred.
“A Chevy SUV left the road to the right for an unknown reason and struck a tree,” Alexander said. “The female driver suffered fatal injuries and (a) male passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”
Two right lanes were closed off to drivers as of 1:20 p.m. as officials investigated the crash.
