2 semitruck crashes causes delays on I-215 in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — Two semitruck crashes caused traffic on Interstate 215 in Salt Lake City on Friday during the morning commute.
Sgt. Mike Alexander with the Utah Highway Patrol said one crash happened on west northbound lanes on I-215 after a semitruck pushed into a concrete barrier, which pushed into southbound lanes.
“Northbound I-215 at the Interstate-80 split is closed for equipment to get the barrier moved back,” Alexander said. “Traffic can still go to the airport and I-80 eastbound.”

Alexander said a second crash on I-215 also happened around the same time in west northbound lanes heading onto I-80 eastbound. This crash was caused by a semitruck that crashed into a barrier and blocked the whole ramp.

The southbound I-215 west belt was being repaired at I-80 on Friday after the crash, causing traffic delays.
Michele Rowley with the KSL traffic center said traffic was backed up past 700 north at 2 p.m.
