Jackknifed semi closes ramps from I-215 to I-80, wet roads are blamed

SALT LAKE CITY — The wet roadways are being blamed for a jackknifed semi that closed onramps to I-80 in Tooele on Wednesday afternoon.
The Utah Department of Public Safety said the truck was hauling an empty trailer on northbound I-215 West when the driver attempted to take the ramp to westbound I-80.
DPS said the truck driver lost control on the wet roadway and jackknifed, hitting the concrete barrier and blocking the ramp.
The trouble with the semi also caused another accident when a passenger car ran into the trailer after it jackknifed.
Hazmat crews were on the scene because the crash caused a leak in the truck’s fuel tank.
The DPS reports only minor injuries, and that nobody was transported to the hospital.
As for drivers, they’ll have some headaches because the ramp from northbound I-215 to westbound I-80 is closed, as is the ramp from southbound I-215 to westbound I-80.
