Lake Powell recreation impacted as crews gather water to fight Bridge Creek Fire

SALT LAKE CITY — As wildfires rage on near Lake Powell, the National Park Service is asking boaters to avoid areas between Dangling Rope and Rainbow Bridge.
Fire suppression aircraft are taking water from the lake to refill tanks, according to a press release. While fixed-wing Super Scooper planes gather water, rangers at Glen Canyon National Recreation area will be providing support.

The National Park Service said planes will be gathering water between buoys 43 and 49. It will be used to refill tanks being used by fire crews.
Lake Powell water to help fight Bridge Creek Fire
In a press release, the National Park Service said crews will use the water to help fight the Bridge Creek Fire.
Utah Fire Info said the Bridge Creek Fire, which is near Navajo Mountain, is 95% contained. It was discovered on June 13 and has burned 2,588 acres.
Officials said it was naturally caused.
The National Park Service said boaters should monitor radio channel 16 for updates.
As efforts continue, a flight restriction is also in place for public safety purposes.
