Lee parts ways with President over who killed Saudi journalist

WASHINGTON — Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, citing CIA intelligence, now says he disagrees with President Trump’s assessment about who killed a Saudi journalist in Turkey.
“I don’t have access to everything the president sees. I’m not sure what he’s relying on,” Lee told NBC-TV’s Meet the Press.
“Intelligence I’ve seen suggests that this was ordered by the crown prince,” he added.
President Trump has said he’s uncertain if Mohammed bin Salman ordered the murder of Washington Post journalist, and Saudi national, Jamal Khashoggi.

Lee used this attack to call on the U.S. government to stop assisting Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s civil war.
“This unauthorized, unconstitutional war, from our standpoint, is not something we ought to be fighting,” he said. “This is not an ally that deserves this kind of military intervention, especially because there’s been no connection between the safety of the American people and our involvement in this war.”
Last week, Trump praised Saudi Arabia’s $450-billion investment in the U.S. economy and weapons.
