SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Giving Machines are returning for the 2025 holiday season and will be available to more people than ever this time around.
The new locations for the Giving Machines include cities like Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Rome, Bangkok and even Tokyo – a total of 126 locations across 21 countries and 6 continents, 41 of those being new this year.
“Each Christmas season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Light the World Giving Machine initiative offers a meaningful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by helping those in need,” the church said.
People can use the machines to purchase goods or services for people in need — a typical Giving Machine allows one to donate food, water, clothing or shelter, among other necessities. The church said 100% of the proceeds go directly to over 500 non-profits across the globe.
The church said last year’s donations fed two million people, vaccinated 500,000 children and provided emergency food boxes to 125,000 refugees.
Since the machines first launched in 2017, they’ve been a big hit. The church reports people have used them to donate nearly $50 million in goods and services throughout the world. The goal is to remember Jesus Christ at Christmas, and try to give like he would give.
“There’s something about giving that points us to the Savior, and how he gave allows us to receive healing, and help and guidance and peace,” said Kristin M. Yee, Relief Society Presidency Second Counselor.
“The important part of Christmas is remembering the gift of Jesus Christ, and as we give to others and sacrifice of our own means, that is a blessing to each one of us,” said W. Mark Bassett, Missionary Department Executive Director.
In Utah, you’ll find the giving machines six locations in Logan, Ogden, Orem, St. George and two in Salt Lake City. A full list of where else you can find them throughout the world, as well as when the machines are available, can be found here.
