1 killed, 1 injured in crash down cliff in Little Cottonwood Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY — One man was killed, and another was injured in Little Cottonwood Canyon early Tuesday after a car fell down a cliff edge, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
It was unclear how far the car fell, but a representative with the sheriff’s office said it fell in an avalanche danger area. One of them died at the scene. The extent of the other’s injuries was not detailed.
The sheriff’s office said both men were 23 years old.
It was also unknown if there were passengers in the car. Crews continued to assess the scene as of approximately 7 a.m.
The sheriff’s office said only one lane would be open on the road for several hours.
