Man arrested after making alleged threat toward a Provo school

PROVO, Utah — A 46-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday evening after he allegedly made threats to a Provo elementary school earlier in the day.
Provo Police say Robert Prina walked into Timpanogos Elementary School and allegedly left a note threatening to conduct a school shooting and detonate a bomb. They also say he left without being identified at around 3:30 p.m.
School officials immediately notified police.
Through access to the school’s surveillance system, authorities were able to identify the suspect.
Later Thursday, police went to the suspect’s home at the Boulder Apartments in South Provo. However, the man had barricaded himself inside his house and was threatening to detonate an explosive device.
Those living in the surrounding area of the suspect were evacuated, as a SWAT unit was called in.
From there, a negotiator talked with the suspect for more than an hour and got him to surrender. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Captain Brian Taylor of the Provo Police Department says the suspect was booked into Utah County Jail. Taylor says he will face charges related to his alleged conduct at the school.
