SALT LAKE CITY — There are now nine reported cases of measles across Utah.

The number increased on July 1, just a few days after health officials reported a previous increase.

According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, the two new cases are in people who are unvaccinated. One of the new cases is linked to people who’ve already been diagnosed with measles, according to health officials.

“Public health investigations are ongoing to identify any locations where possible exposures may have occurred,” health officials said in a statement.

On Thursday, state officials also reported two new cases of measles. Utah health officials said those individuals were unvaccinated.

If you have been exposed to measles, the symptoms can appear between seven and 14 days after the initial exposure. A high fever, over 102.2°F or 39°C, is one of the hallmark symptoms.

Other measles symptoms include:

  • cough,
  • red, irritated eyes,
  • runny nose, and
  • rash (appears four days after the fever begins).

Staying home is the best thing someone can do if they come down with symptoms according to Utah health officials.

On June 20, Utah health officials reported a new case of measles and that the infected person in that instanced had been in public places on two occasions while they were infectious but not showing symptoms.

The chart below shows those locations. Learn more about measles cases in Utah in 2025 at the webpage of the Utah Department of Health & Human Services.
