SALT LAKE CITY — In celebration of Memorial Day, Gov. Spencer Cox ordered all state facilities to fly the United States of America and Utah state flags at half-staff.
“Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation,” Cox said. “We lower our flags in their honor and join Utahns across the state in remembering their courage, sacrifice and devotion to our country.”
The two flags were ordered to be at half-staff starting a little after midnight at 12:01 a.m. Monday, and raised back to full-staff position by noon.
Although not ordered to do so, Cox invited private citizens, businesses and organizations to do the same thing in tribute of Memorial Day.
