Department of Public Safety shares memorial plans for officers killed in action

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Public Safety has released details on memorial services for two Garland Tremonton police officers who were killed while responding to a domestic violence call earlier this week.

“In the wake of this loss, we are coming together to honor them for their heroic service,” the DPS said in a press release.
According to the press release, a public viewing for Sgt. Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Bear River High School in Tremonton. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m.
Each officer’s funeral will be held at the Utah State University Spectrum in Logan, but on different days. Estrada’s funeral is planned for Thursday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m., and Sorenson’s will be held Friday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. The DPS asks that those attending be seated by 10 a.m.
Following these services, each officer will receive a private burial.
