2 minors in custody after suspicious fire at Ogden nursing home

OGDEN, Utah — Two minors were placed into custody Monday and are suspected of setting a nursing home on fire, according to the Ogden Police Department.
In a press release, the department said they received reports of a structure fire at 910 Monroe Blvd in the Wide Horizons neighborhood.’
As they assisted the Ogden Fire Department, officers said they saw heavy smoke and visible flames coming off the nursing home roof.
“Ogden Fire personnel immediately began fire suppression efforts and successfully contained the blaze, preventing damage to nearby structures,” the press release stated.
Police began a search and said they found two minors hiding in a garage nearby. The two were immediately taken into custody.
Both boys were sent to the Weber Valley Detention Center, where they’re suspected of arson and criminal trespass.
An investigation is ongoing.
