Sen. Mitt Romney disagrees with the Democratic party's trajectory on impeachment.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, is chastising the president for his remarks about the late Sen. John McCain.

Mitt Romney rebuked the president on Twitter, saying he can’t understand why the President is disparaging”a man as exemplary” as McCain.

President Donald Trump had posted about the late Arizona senator over the weekend, and he was asked about it in an Oval Office appearance with Brazil’s president.

The president responded that he’s “very unhappy” that McCain voted against repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act in 2017.

“I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be,” President Trump said.

Romney posted a nearly 500 word essay after McCain died last August from a brain tumor. Other politicians, from Republicans like Russian Ambassador and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. to Democrats like former Vice-President Joe Biden, also spoke out after the senator’s death to praise and honor the Naval veteran and former prisoner-of-war they called a maverick.

Romney has said he doesn’t intend to comment on every tweet from the president, but he would speak out when he felt it was significant.
