Motorcyclist killed after crashing into cow near Monte Cristo

SALT LAKE CITY – A 27-year-old was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night after crashing into a cow, deputies said.

According to a Facebook post from the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist crashed with a cow on state Route 29 near mile marker 53 “in the Monte Cristo area” at approximately 10:02 p.m.

The motorcycle caught on fire due to the crash, deputies said, and the Utah Highway Patrol, along with medical and fire personnel, responded to the scene.

According to the Department of Public Safety, first responders attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said the motorcyclist was with a group of other riders when the crash occurred.

The Utah Highway Patrol identified the motorcyclist as Zachariah D. Simons, 27, from Brigham City.
