Motorcyclist hit, killed while stopped on U.S. 6 in Utah County, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night after they were hit by another vehicle while stopped on U.S. 6 between Santaquin and Eureka.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Luis Silva said two people were riding the motorcycle when they had to stop for mechanical issues in westbound lanes around mile marker 147. Silva said the passenger got off the bike and walked onto the shoulder, but the driver was in the right-most lane of the highway at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Silva said another vehicle heading west hit the motorcycle driver, a 46-year-old man, and he died at the scene of the crash. Two people in the vehicle that hit the motorcycle had minor injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours while police investigated, and was later reopened early Monday morning.
Silva noted that there’s “no additional lighting” on the section of highway where the collision took place.
