Murray house fire causes damages, displaces family

SALT LAKE CITY — An early morning house fire in Murray caused around $200,000 in damages and displaced a family on Monday.

Murray City Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Boulden said they got a call about the house fire around 1:30 a.m.

“Upon our arrival, there was smoke and flames in a carport that had extended into the kitchen and living room,” Boulden said.

A woman, her son, her grandson and their cat and dog evacuated the home safely. The fire displaced the family and they will be staying with relatives.

Boulden said the fire caused about $200,000 in damages.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
