Ogden townhouse fire causes $1.6 million in damages

OGDEN – An Ogden townhome caught fire overnight, causing approximately $1,600,000 in damages, firefighters said.
The Ogden Fire Department reported at approximately 12:37 a.m. Sunday, crews were called to a structure fire near 400 West 12th Street.
Firefighters said when they arrived, “units discovered smoke and flames coming from the roof of a townhome under construction.” Firefighters noted the townhomes were unoccupied.
The Ogden Fire Department said crews had water on the structure “within minutes,” and successfully extinguished the flames.
A total of 23 firefighters with the Ogden Fire Department and Weber Fire District worked to battle the fire with the help of four fire engines, two ladder trucks, an ambulance, a paramedic truck and a battalion chief, according to the Ogden Fire Department.
The fire caused approximately $1,600,000 in damages, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office. No injuries were reported.
“We commend the professionalism and teamwork displayed by all responding personnel, whose actions helped protect the exposed structures,” the Ogden Fire Department said in a release.
