Man suspected in Wisconsin homicide arrested in Ogden

OGDEN — A man who was wanted in connection with a homicide in Wisconsin was found and arrested in Ogden over the weekend, police said.
The Ogden Police Department announced that 36-year-old Randy Jenks was arrested on Sunday. The department said he was wanted by Waushara County, Wisconsin police in connection with a homicide there.
Ogden police said officers received word that Jenks was in the area of Fowler Avenue on Sunday. Police arrived, and then Jenks came out of a home and was arrested, the department said.
Jenks was taken to the Ogden Police Department, where officers coordinated with police in Wisconsin. He was then booked into the Weber County Jail.
“The Ogden Police Department values the strong partnerships we maintain with law enforcement agencies across the country. We thank our officers and partner agencies for their coordination and professionalism, and we appreciate the continued support of our community,” Ogden police said.
The department said that the investigation in Wisconsin remains ongoing.
A police affidavit from Wisconsin says Jenks’ grandmother, who he lived with, was found dead by police on Sunday in Mount Morris, Wisconsin.
According to the affidavit, a family member told police that she believed Jenks had fled to Ogden to stay with his aunt. The family member called his aunt’s house, and Jenks answered the phone, she told police.
“(The family member) stated that while on the phone with (Jenks), he stated ‘I stabbed grandma in the living room, on the floor,'” the affidavit said.
Police then talked to Jenks’ aunt on the phone, who told them that Jenks was at her house. That’s when Wisconsin police asked Ogden police to go to the home and take Jenks into custody.
The affidavit said that when Ogden police searched the home, they found a bloody knife on a bedside table. It also said that Jenks had blood on his clothes when he was arrested.
Jenks admitted to Ogden police that he stabbed his grandma, the affidavit said, reportedly telling officers that she “pushed him too far.”
Jenks is accused in Wisconsin court of first-degree intentional homicide.
