SALT LAKE CITY – A driver died after crashing head-on with another vehicle in West Valley City Saturday night.

The driver who died was identified by the West Valley City Police Department as Peni Palei, 69.

Palei reportedly rear-ended a vehicle, then fled the scene before hitting another vehicle head-on on 3100 South. He was killed in the head-on collision, the department said in a post on X.

Police reported that other people involved had minor injuries. It was not immediately known how many people were involved.

No further information was immediately available.
