Possible carjacking in West Valley City leads to car fire, ramp closure

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One person is in custody and a driver is being sought by police after a possible attempted carjacking on Thursday afternoon.
UHP spokesman Sgt. Cam Roden told KSL that one car was following another on eastbound 201. It had moved onto the northbound I-15 ramp when the car in front rolled and caught fire.
Roden said that fire officials responded and put out the fire. The driver of the car that rolled left the scene.
The West Valley City Police Department is investigating whether one of the cars was stolen, and the UHP is handling issues involving the crash.
