Injured hiker rescued on Red Mountain

IVINS, Washington Co. — Washington County Search and Rescue crews assisted a man who was injured on the Ivins side of Red Mountain on April 20.

According to Washington County Deputy Jacob Paul, the rescue occurred approximately a quarter of a mile from the Toe Trailhead. A man in his 20s rolled his ankle while hiking alone.

The trail is located in Snow Canyons State Park, according to AllTrails.

Paul said the man was unable to leave the trail.

Star 9, a Utah Highway Patrol helicopter, was called to the scene due to the terrain on Red Mountain. Search and Rescue crews contacted him, then he was lifted back to the trailhead.

After returning to the trailhead, the man was taken to the hospital.
