SALT LAKE CITY — One man was killed after crashing in Riverdale just before 5 a.m. on Interstate 15 Tuesday morning.

Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said the man died after going off the road for unknown reasons and hit a crash cushion.

Roden said standing water was present at the scene of the crash, but investigators were still looking into the incident and didn’t know if that’s what caused the driver to go off the road.

The right lane was closed with two left lanes open while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash caused heavy delays from Sunset to the Interstate 84 interchange. Traffic was slow from 31st street to 5600 S in Roy.
