HOLLADAY — A broken water line caused a rockslide and mudslide in Holladay Tuesday night, affecting three homes, leaving one of them severely damaged.
About 8 p.m., a water main line broke on a hillside near located near 3100 East by Interstate 215, said Unified fire spokesperson Kelly Bird.
The water main break saturated the hillside, causing the mudslide to enter the basement of one home and severely damaging it.
The exteriors of two other houses were also impacted by the slides. All of the occupants of the three homes were evacuated to safety.
City workers had been called to close the line and begin repairs as there will be a major cleanup needed for the area.
