SALT LAKE CITY- Rotary Play Park Playground at Liberty Park has been very popular with kids and parents. And after significant use, Salt Lake City is asking for feedback to restore the park for children of all abilities.

According to the media release, the voter-approved Reimagine Neighborhood Parks General Obligation Bond will fund this project.

Community members can take a survey now until the end of May to share their opinions. Representatives will be at the park to meet with the public from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on May 17 and May 24. Another meeting will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 25.

“Many people want to see a playground accessible for children of all ages and abilities, which we love because it supports the history of the playground built to commemorate the 2002 Special Olympics,” said Salt Lake City Project Manager Ronnie Pessetto in a media release.

In feedback already collected, park visitors encouraged the project team to include features such as imaginative play, obstacle courses and shade structures.

Salt Lake City has created three proposals and is waiting for suggestions from the online survey and in-person activities to make a final decision. This project is expected to conclude at the Special Olympics Inclusion Festival on July 18 at Liberty Park.
