Salt Lake Temple to hold open house in 2027

SALT LAKE CITY — President Russell M. Nelson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that the Salt Lake Temple will publically open to visitors from April to October 2027.
In a post on X, President Nelson said this announcement comes exactly 172 years after the temple’s groundbreaking ceremony.
On February 14, 1853, a groundbreaking ceremony in Salt Lake City began a 40-year journey of faith and sacrifice, culminating in the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple in 1893.

“On February 14, 1853, a groundbreaking ceremony in Salt Lake City began a 40-year journey of faith and sacrifice, culminating in the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple in 1893,” President Nelson said in the post.
This is a long-awaited development as the Salt Lake Temple has been closed for construction since December 29, 2019.
