SALT LAKE CITY — The Tabernacle Choir and The Orchestra at Temple Square will perform with Adassa and Alex Melecio during their summer concert July 14-15.

Adassa performed the character of Dolores in the Disney movie ‘Encanto’. Melecio was a finalist on a TV reality show showcasing Latino performers.

The announcement was made Friday by Choir Director Mack Wilberg on KSL NewsRadio. As he was making the announcement, Wilberg looked back on their recent performances in Mexico City. The first international performances by the choir and orchestra since the beginning of the pandemic.

“This first trip to Mexico City was really our first of kind of a five-year plan,” Wilberg said. “To go around the world with this message of love and hope and our testimonies.”

Alex says it will mean a lot to perform with the choir.

“I grew up around, you know, listening to the choir,” Melecio said. “I’ve known how amazing the choir, and the reach, and the purpose and the mission of the choir has been since I was very little.”
