SANDY, Utah — A motorcycle rider was critically injured in Sandy on Thursday when his motorcycle and a car collided.
At about 7:50 a.m., a 45-year-old man on a motorcycle was driving north on Highland Drive at the intersection with 9400 South. An 18-year-old woman was driving south and turned left into the path of the motorcycle, where they collided, Sandy police said.
Sandy police said the man on the motorcycle received significant injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition, where he underwent surgery, police said.
The woman drove herself to Alta View Hospital for minor injuries.
Police said there did not appear to be any impairment involved, but they are investigating speed as a factor in the crash.
