ALTA, Utah — Salt Lake County officials said search and rescue crews were searching Saturday for a man who was struck by lightning while hiking in the Twin Peaks area of Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed the search to KSL.
It’s believed the hiker was struck by lightning, then fell, but how far they may have fallen is not known.
The Twin Peaks wilderness area sits near the top of the canyon, on the backside of the Snowbird and Alta ski resorts.
