Police investigate report of shots fired in West Jordan

WEST JORDAN — Three schools were sheltering in place while police investigated a report of shots fired near 7000 S. and 4800 W.

Police received several reports from that neighborhood about possible shots fired. Those reports initiated a police response from multiple agencies in the Salt Lake Valley, which West Jordan Police says has since been scaled down. Police are uncertain at this time if what was reported was actually shots fired, or a car backfiring.

Police told KSL they are seeking a white Acura or Honda, older model.

The Granite School District tweeted that Bridger Elementary School, Cyprus High School and Magna Elementary were sheltering in place due to the nearby police activity, but said there was no direct threat to the schools.

 

By 12:30, the Granite District announced the shelter-in-place was lifted for all schools.

West Jordan Police were never able to locate an exact scene for the reported shooting or any property damage or shell casings to verify a shooting had taken place. Officers cleared the scene.
