SLC International Airport saw record number of passengers in 2023

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City International Airport recorded its highest-ever number of passengers in 2023. SLC International Airport announced that it saw 26,952,754 passengers.
Previously, the airport saw it’s highest number of passengers in 2019.
“The robust Utah economy has certainly played a role in the growth as has the incredible partnership with our hub carrier, Delta Air Lines, and the connectivity they provide, with their global partners throughout Canada, Europe, and Mexico,” said Bill Wyatt, the Salt Lake City Department of Airports executive director.
Credited with the increase, 1,323,294 international passengers traveled through in 2023.

According to the press release, the old airport closed in the autumn of 2020. An airport meant to accommodate 10 million passengers per year, it was operating at “nearly three times its capacity.”
Ranked as the 70th busiest airport in the world, it sees “nearly 300” departures every day.
Upon completion, Salt Lake City International Airport will accommodate 34 million travelers.
Scheduled to open in autumn 2024, phase three includes the installation of a “central tunnel” connecting concourses A and B. Secondly, a mini plaza will be installed in Concourse B, featuring the world map from the old airport.
The fourth and final phase will bring 16 more gates, according to a fact sheet from the airport’s website.
Upon completion, the Salt Lake City International Airport will have 94 gates, according to the press release.
