Police arrest 2 after deadly shooting in South Jordan

SALT LAKE CITY — Two people were arrested after a 34-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday in South Jordan.
The South Jordan Police Department said the man, Alexander Powell, was shot multiple times near 11500 South Copperstone Drive at 1:47 a.m. Police said they performed life saving measures, but Powell died in the hospital after the shooting took place.
One suspect was arrested on Saturday and the other was arrested when police said they served a search warrant at a property in Duchesne County.
“Following additional investigative leads, detectives made contact with the outstanding male suspect, who later surrendered without incident,” police said. “Two suspects, Kevin Scarbourough and Zachary Prescott have been taken into custody and booked on charges of homicide.”
Police expressed their gratitude to community members who helped with the arrest.
“We extend our gratitude to members of the community who provided information that assisted in this case,” police said.
