SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was awake and talking in the hospital on Wednesday after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in St. George.
Lt. Sam Despain with the St. George Police Department said the woman was walking within a crosswalk when she was hit by a Jeep Wrangler around 10 a.m.
According to Despain, the driver of the Jeep was stopped, checking for traffic on southbound 700 East and was going to turn right on 100 South when he began driving and struck the woman.
“[The driver] approached [the] intersection, stopped, checked for traffic but didn’t see the female crossing the road,” Despain said. “They went forward, and struck the female.”
Despain said it was a “slow speed impact,” however the woman passed out after hitting her head. She was taken to Dixie Regional Medical for treatment.
Police later said the woman was awake and talking.
