Child removed from life support following crash in Ogden that killed 11-year-old brother

OGDEN — Another child has died following a crash Friday night in Ogden that killed an 11-year-old and injured eight others.
Jaimito Vasquez, a 7-year-old, died from his injuries after being taken off life support Sunday afternoon. The exact cause of death is unknown at this time.
His 11-year-old brother, who was identified by the family as Izarel, died after police said he was ejected from the vehicle.
“We are heartbroken and trying to process this sudden loss and facing unimaginable pain, grief and shock,” the family’s GoFundMe states. “No words can truly capture the heartbreak of losing someone so young, so loved, and full of life.”
The other six people in the vehicle that was hit were being evaluated and treated for critical and non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
“This is an extraordinarily devastating incident,” Ogden police said. “We are grieving with and for the victim’s family.”
Ogden police said a 14-year-old fled from officers in a stolen vehicle Friday at 7:45 p.m., after police first attempted to stop the vehicle in the 2800 block of Quincey Avenue.
Police said the teenager continued to flee after hitting an officer’s vehicle while attempting to escape. Officers said there was a passenger in the vehicle who was also 14 years old.
“The suspect fled at high speeds until ultimately colliding with another vehicle in the intersection at 31st Street and Grant Avenue,” police said. “The victim vehicle was occupied by two adults and six children.”
The two teenagers in the vehicle that allegedly fled from police were also hospitalized due to their injuries, police said.
Police said the incident was under investigation by the Weber-Metro Crash Reconstruction and Scene Handling Team.
“The Ogden Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, in cooperation with the Weber-Morgan Homicide Task Force, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and all related criminal offenses,” police said.
