SALT LAKE CITY — A man in his 20s remains in custody after a fatal stabbing in Liberty Park on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon neither the victim nor the suspect had been identified.

But officials have released more information about the initial call.  Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Lisa Pascadlo told KSL that police rushed to the scene of the downtown park after they received a call saying there may be multiple victims.

“It’s Sunday, the park is usually very busy, so we sent as many people as we could to find out exactly what had happened,” said Sgt. Pascadlo.

When police arrived they found only one stabbing victim, a male in his 20s.

Liberty Park remained open after the stabbing, but officers closed off a portion of the park to further investigate the crime scene.

This story will be updated.
