SALT LAKE CITY — A person was arrested on Saturday night after police say he pulled a firearm out when a constable served the person an eviction notice.
Sgt. Johnson with the West Valley City Police Department said the incident happened at 6:55 p.m. at 33rd South and 2000 West.
“The person that was being evicted produced a firearm. The constable retreated and the Police Department responded,” Johnson said.
That’s when a SWAT team was called to help handle the situation.
According to Johnson, the SWAT team was not able to negotiate with the person, so they had to use gas to get the person to surrender.
Police said there was no one else in the house at the time of the police and SWAT response. No injuries were reported at the scene.
