The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicates Helena Montana Temple

SALT LAKE CITY — The Helena Montana Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated on Sunday by Elder Gary E. Stevenson, of the Quroum of the Twelve Apostles.
The dedication completes one of the fastest turnarounds for a temple in nearly 20 years.
The temple was first announced by President Russell M. Nelson in April 2021. The Helena Montana Temple was one of 20 temples to be announced at the time by President Nelson.
Of the other 19 temples announced, 10 are under construction, five have locations identified, three are in the planning stages, and one has a groundbreaking date set, according to a church news release.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Helena Montana Temple was held June 26, 2021. From the announcement of the temple to the groundbreaking was two months and 22 days, according to the church news release. The 26 months and 15 days from announcement to dedication is the second fastest turnaround for church temple since 2010.
The temple is the second in Montana. The Billings Montana Temple was dedicated in 2000. In April 2022, President Nelson announced plans for a temple in Missoula.
With Sunday’s dedication, the church now was 178 dedicated temples around the world. In all, the church has 315 temples, including those that are announced, planned or are under construction.
