Thousands of Utah students to attend STEM Fest

SANDY — The annual STEM Fest is happening Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mountain America Expo Center, and organizers expect as many as 20,000 4th through 10th grade students to attend.
The event features activities, exhibits, and demos, all focused on science, technology, engineering, and math.
“It’s a really fun two days,” says Utah STEM Foundation Director Allison Spencer.
According to Spencer, the goal of STEM Fest is engaging the right sides of thousands of Utah student brains.
“We’re really trying to show kids that math can be fun, and engineering can be incredible, and developing an app can help make money and change your community,” Spencer says.

There could be a potential future job in it for the students who attend, says Spencer. As many as 50 corporations from across Utah will be at STEM Fest, encouraging kids to study in these fields and eventually come back to work for them.
Tuesday night is free to the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Families with special needs can have a quieter experience from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
