The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued an alert for the Trader Joe's Turkey Gobbler Wrap after learning of concerns about possible listeria contamination.

SALT LAKE CITY — A ready-to-eat turkey wrap sold at Trader Joe’s is the subject of a recent public health alert.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the alert, which applies to the company’s Turkey Gobbler Wrap, after learning of concerns about possible listeria contamination.

The alert involves products with a best buy stamp of Sept. 16, 2025. There are six Trader Joe’s stores across Utah.

The wrap in question was produced on Sept. 10, 2025. FSIS reports the product was shipped to Trader Joe’s outlets nationwide. The product bears an establishment number of P-1644 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

FSIS said that Trader Joe’s alerted the agency that “food contact surface samples associated with this product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.”

No recall issued for Trader Joe’s Turkey Gobbler Wrap

There have been no reports of adverse reactions to the Trader Joe’s Turkey Gobbler Wrap. A recall wasn’t issued because, according to FSIS, the product can’t be purchased anymore.

In a press release, the FSIS indicated that their agency is concerned that the product may still be in consumers’ refrigerators.

“The product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” USDA officials said in a press release.

Listeria is a bacteria that, if consumed, can cause listeriosis.

“Infection can be serious,” FSIS said. “It is most likely to sicken pregnant women and their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems.”

FSIS also said that “people receiving some medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for treatment of cancer, are at high risk.”
