Not sure where to trick-or-treat? Here are some ideas across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Halloween comes with a very important decision every year: Where should we go trick-or-treating?

It’s not always an easy question to answer, whether you’re worried about your family’s safety or if you’re worried there won’t be enough candy to be had around your neighborhood.

Luckily, cities all over Utah have community trick-or-treat events that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Here are some ideas for you:

Salt Lake City — Trick-or-Treat at the Museum

The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum is holding a trick-or-treat event in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City on Halloween.

“Come for the treats and stay for the spooktacular fun as your kids explore exhibits and meet our staff who will all be dressed up for the day. You never know what exciting characters you’ll run into around every corner of the museum,” the museum’s website says.

Kids who show up in costume can collect candy, and the event comes free with the cost of admission to the museum. The trick-or-treat will take place throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Park City — Halloween on Main Street

Trick-or-treating on Park City’s Main Street generally has a huge turnout — four legged friends encouraged!

Participating business on the historic block will open their doors to trick-or-treaters from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Halloween.

“Travel and Leisure magazine has recognized Halloween on Historic Park City’s Main Street as one of the top Halloween celebrations in the country—and for good reason! This unique community event brings together two- and four-legged costumed creatures, gourmet treats, and a few playful tricks, creating an unforgettable celebration,” Historic Park City says online.

The event is billed as safe and fun for the whole family. While kids — or maybe adults with a sweet tooth — enjoy trick-or-treating, parents can check out local shops and galleries.

The street will be closed to all traffic for the event. Be ready to pay for parking, or park farther away and utilize public transit.

Provo — Downtown Trick-or-Treating

Businesses in downtown Provo will be handing out candy, free books and more on Halloween.

The city also promised dancing and Halloween activities. The event is set to take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at University Avenue and Center Street.

Families are encouraged to attend and take part in both Halloween festivities and to check out downtown Provo.

Layton — Layton Hills Mall Trick-or-Treat

The Layton Hills Mall will hold a trick-or-treat event on Halloween from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The mall said the event is “free and family friendly,” and trick-or-treating will take place at participating businesses while supplies last. Participating businesses will have a floor decal of a ghost to let guests know to come on in.

Costumes are encouraged for trick-or-treaters, but the mall asked guests to avoid wearing masks or carrying realistic looking weapons.

Logan — Halloween Treat Walk

Cache Valley residents — or anyone willing to make a longer drive for Halloween fun — can enjoy the 21st annual Halloween Treat Walk in downtown Logan.

“60+ establishments will open their doors and welcome costumed trick-or-treaters throughout Halloween Day. No rush for moms and dads; businesses will be open and treating between 10 a.m. and 4pm. Enjoy a safe and relaxing outing with the family in downtown Logan,” Downtown Logan says online.

Trick-or-treaters can simply watch for a Treat Walk poster in the windows of downtown businesses to see who is participating.

The website said guests can expect plenty of free parking, and urged people to take about two hours to check out the area. It’s located between 300 North and 119 South, and 100 West to 100 East downtown.

Moab — Trunk or Treat

The 8th annual Trunk or Treat event will take place in Moab from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween.

It’s at the Old Spanish Trail Arena at 3641 S. Highway 191.

St. George — The Shoppes at Zion

Families are invited to trick-or-treat at The Shoppes at Zion in St. George for the holiday, with participating stores giving out candy from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
